North Texas State Hospital Admission Information

Wichita Falls Campus

*Admission to the North Texas State Hospital’s Wichita Falls campus is accomplished through referral by Mental Health Authority (MHA) in the hospital’s service area.*

Admissions are generally of a short term nature. However, patients who exhibit need of longer term treatment may be admitted to specific programs based on their particular needs, including environmental engagement, social behavioral, geropsychiatric and multiple disabilities. Additionally, children, age 6-17 are treated in the Child and Adolescent Program with age specific living arrangement and treatment.

The Wichita Falls campus provides adult psychiatric services and child/ adolescent psychiatric services.

The Vernon campus provides forensic services for the entire state of Texas and offers both a Maximum Security Program for adults and the Adolescent Forensic Program.
