Texas Family Initiative
Texas Family Initiative, LLC is a private nonprofit organization that provides experience, compassion, quality care, and services for children in foster care and foster/adopt families. We hold Foster Care Recruitment Contracts with the Texas Department of Human Services, Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). As a partner with DFPS, we recruit and train families to become foster and/adoptive parents.
We support foster parents to provide a caring, loving home to foster children. Many children placed in out of home placement suffer from?complex trauma?as a result of maltreatment in their family home, as well as the trauma of the removal from their parents/caregivers.? We recognize the adverse impact that traumatic stress has on children’s developing brains. We train our foster families to be aware of the impact trauma can have on children and teach them skills to help children build resiliency.
