Cycle Smart
Ride Safe. Ride Smart. Have Fun!
The Cycle Smart Program makes learning to ride safely just as fun as riding itself! We’re bringing bike safety education straight to your neighborhood—whether it’s a local school, church, or community center—teaching both youth and adults how to be confident, capable, and cool on two wheels.
Every year, we reach over 1,500 riders in the area with hands-on classes, fun-filled field exercises, and real-world tips. Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned cyclist, there’s something here for everyone.
What You’ll Learn:
- Safety First (But Make It Fun!)
- Learn all the must-know tips to stay safe on your bike—from choosing the right gear and helmet to riding at night, trail etiquette, group riding, hydration, and more.
- Bike TLC – Maintenance Made Easy
- Ever heard of the “ABC Quick Check”? We’ll show you how to give your bike the love it needs, spot worn-out parts, and keep everything rolling smoothly.
- Avoid Like a Pro
- Time to hit the field! Practice real avoidance maneuvers like the rock dodge, quick stops, speed control, and smooth braking. Because the best way to avoid a crash… is to know how.
- Ride Ready & Road Smart
- Whether you’re heading to school, work, or a group ride, we’ll prep you with skills like proper shifting, smart bike adjustments, and readiness techniques that turn every ride into a breeze.
- Know the Rules, Own the Road
- From bike lanes to intersections and rural roads to city streets—we’ll break down the traffic laws, hand signals, and local ordinances every cyclist needs to know to stay safe and legal out there.
Why Bike Safety Matters
Biking is more than just a way to get around—it’s freedom, fun, exercise, and even a daily commute for many. But whether you’re cruising through your neighborhood, riding to school, or hitting the trails, safety is what keeps every ride enjoyable.
Each year, thousands of bike-related accidents occur—many of them preventable with the right knowledge and skills. From not wearing helmets to misunderstanding traffic laws, the smallest mistake can lead to serious consequences.
That’s where Cycle Smart + bike safety education comes in. By learning how to ride confidently, follow traffic rules, wear the right gear, and maintain your bike, you protect yourself and others on the road.
Bike safety isn’t just about avoiding accidents—it’s about building lifelong habits that keep riders of all ages safe, empowered, and ready to ride.
When safety is second nature, riding becomes unstoppable!
