Mother Friendly Worksites
Mother Friendly is an initiative to encourage and promote breastfeeding throughout the first year of infancy to help combat childhood obesity and encourage breastfeeding support within the workplace.
Due to Chapter 165 of Texas Health and Safety Code requires businesses to allot mothers to breastfeed or express breastmilk in any location they are authorized to be in, over 900 employers are already enrolled, including High Schools, IBM, Whole Foods, Texas Technical University, and Game Stop. Many more already have the potential to qualify to participate in this program, with zero cost to them.
The following businesses have contracted with The Wichita Public Health District with an aim to promote the encouragement of breastfeeding within the workplace to help create a system of support for new mothers, enabling the possibility of safe and accessible lactation.
