Texas Healthy Communities (TXHC)

Texas Healthy Communities Logo

Texas Healthy Communities (TXHC) has been making strides in our local community’s health for over a decade — and we’re just getting started! What began with a focus on heart health, stroke prevention, and healthy aging has now evolved into a dynamic forward movement towards a long-lasting stronger and healthier community.

We’re also proud to maintain and grow the WichitaFallsTrails.com website that helps residents stay active, connected, and inspired to live well. You will find all the parks connected to the Circle Trail and their amenities. Furthermore, the website will also feature the Mountain Bike Trail and its opportunities for exercise in the great outdoors.

Real Progress. Real Impact.

Since 2021, heart attack mortality rates have significantly dropped for both men and women in our county.
Since 2016, stroke-related deaths among men have decreased, and for women, those numbers have remained below 50.

That’s real change — powered by prevention, education, and community action!

Loneliness and Heart/ Brain Health

With all the people on Earth it’s hard to imagine someone experiencing loneliness, but for many people it is a daily struggle. It has been said that loneliness is an emotional response and makes the person feel disconnected, even when there are other people around.

Medical experts suggest that there are several ways to ease the loneliness. Here are some ideas that might help: small social gatherings such as having dinner with a few people or hosting a game night for a few friends. Other ideas include: going to lunch with a friend, exercise, and owning a dog, cat or other animals. All these things can be excellent for your heart health and as the saying goes “what’s good for the heart is good for the brain”.

For more information on loneliness and its affect on your Heart and Brain, go to heart.org and stroke.org.

We’re not just making a difference — we’re saving lives. Join us in creating a healthier, stronger Wichita County.
